Historical Old Town Spring

Have you visited Old Town Spring lately?  Located near the original rail yards built in the early 1900’s, Old Town spring is a quiet little turn of the century town made up of shops, restaurants, art galleries, and museums.   Merchants from these shops travel around the world to find unique and unusual items for their shops – you can’t find this stuff in the mall!  Family and Children friendly, you can spend the whole day shopping, eating, and enjoying the scenery!

In addition to the regular fun, Old Town Spring hosts five major festivals each year...

Springfest – Wine and Art Festival, Texas Style!  This event is scheduled to take place March 5 through March 6.  The event is FREE on Saturday and Sunday, wine tasting tickets are $25.  Proceeds will benefit the Spring Preservation League, dedicated to preserving Old Town Spring.  Find out more on winefestoldtownspring.com

Texas Crawfish and Music Festival – Scheduled over 2 weekends in May,  RAIN OR SHINE!! This is one of the most anticipated events in the greater Houston area, bigger and better each year!  Over 70 tons of crawfish, live music, and a whole lotta family fun!  FREE admission for active military – keep posted about the 2011 dates on texascrawfishfestival.com

Longhorn Rod Run – September – Antique Cars and Historic attractions line the streets of Old Town Spring for a weekend of shopping, eating, and enjoying classics you can’t see anywhere else.  Keep posted on the upcoming dates on winefestoldtownspring.com

PetFest is great for the ENTIRE family!!  This weekend is dedicated to finding homes for the many wonderful animals in shelters and rescue groups across the Houston area.  They raised over $12,000 in 2010 – let’s double it in 2011!  Keep posted on www.petfestoldtownspring.com

Home for Holidays starts in the beginning of November.  This is the town’s annual Christmas Tree lighting celebration.  Come and view the wonderful white lights and colorful decorations covering all of Old Town Springs.  Get in the Christmas spirit and start your shopping early!

Upcoming event: the Celebration of Easter in Old Town Spring!  Children 12 and under are invited to participate in the Great Easter Egg Hunt in Thyme Square. (Divided into 3 age groups).  Hundreds of eggs are hidden; hope to find the Prize Egg!  For more information about The Great Easter Egg Hunt – call 281-353-9310.  The scheduled date is April 16th, Sign in at 9:30 and start hunting at 10:00 sharp!
