In 1941, just over 100 miles to the east of Spring, TX in Beaumont, TX a legendary baker, Johnny Rao opened Rao’s Bakery. Mr. Rao built the local business on high standards, insisting that everything be made fresh daily, including all the sandwich breads, using local ingredients and no additives or fillers. This attention to detail and commitment to quality has been the foundation for the Rao’s Bakery success over the decades.
The Next Generation
In the 1990’s Jake Tortorice, a second generation Sicilian who was born and raised in Beaumont and an accomplished entrepreneur in his own right, acquired the famous bakery and has enjoyed tremendous success by carefully expanding the business with a constant eye on the quality and reputation of the Rao’s Bakery brand.
